Jack-up Drilling Rig Facts:

This is a model make for the Offshore Drilling Rig and Museum of Galveston Texas. They wanted a model of their Ocean Star drilling rig to sell in their gift shop. The Ocean Star is a "jack-up" type of drilling rig. Other types of rigs include, semi-submersible, drill-ship, and platform. The Ocean Star was converted into an oil drilling museum. You can actually go aboard and see what it's like to live and work on a real drilling rig. You can visit the living quarters, mess and recreation rooms, control room, engine room, and even the drill floor. The museum is a real treat for young and old alike.
